What image format do extracted images come out as?

All extracted images are saved as PNG, a lossless format, regardless of how the image was originally embedded in the PDF (JPEG, PNG, or another format). This avoids adding extra compression artifacts on top of the original.

Why don't I see every tiny graphic or line in the PDF?

Very small images (under roughly 24×24 pixels) are automatically filtered out, since these are almost always decorative separator lines, spacer graphics, or tiling artifacts rather than meaningful photos — including them would clutter the results with junk.

Why does the same logo appear multiple times in my results?

If an image (like a letterhead logo) appears on several pages of the PDF, it's extracted once for each page it appears on, rather than being deduplicated into a single copy. This keeps the extraction logic simple and predictable.

Will this work on a PDF that's just scanned text with no separate photos?

If the entire scanned page was saved as one big embedded image (common for scanned documents), that whole-page image will be extracted just like any other embedded image. If a page is pure vector text with no embedded raster image at all, there's nothing to extract from that page.

Can every embedded image always be extracted perfectly?

The vast majority of images — especially standard JPEG and PNG photos, which cover almost all real-world PDFs — extract cleanly. A small minority of unusual color-encoded images may fail to extract in some browsers; when that happens, that single image is skipped and the rest of the document still processes normally.

Is there a file size limit?
