Is this password generator truly random?

Yes. It uses the Web Crypto API (window.crypto.getRandomValues), which draws entropy from the operating system's hardware-backed random number generator. This is the same source used by security libraries and password managers, and is far stronger than the weaker Math.random() function.

Does the generated password get sent to your servers?

No. The entire generation process runs in JavaScript inside your browser tab. No password, no input setting, and no network request is ever sent to our servers. You can confirm this by opening your browser's Network tab — there is no outbound request when you click Generate.

How long should my password be?

At minimum, 12 characters for standard accounts. Use 16 or more for email, banking, or any account used to reset other accounts. For high-security targets like a password manager master password, use 20–30 characters. Length is the single biggest factor in password strength.

Which character sets should I enable?

Enable all four — uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols — whenever the target system allows it. If a site prohibits symbols, compensate with 18+ characters instead. The tool shows an error if you try to generate with all four sets disabled.

What does the strength indicator measure?

It calculates the password's entropy in bits using the formula log₂(charsetSize^length). Weak is below 40 bits, Fair is 40–59 bits, Strong is 60–79 bits, and Very Strong is 80 bits or more.
