What image formats are supported?

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, and HEIC/HEIF are all supported. HEIC is the default format used by iPhones and modern Android cameras.

Which languages does the OCR support?

English, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), and Japanese. Select the correct language before extracting for best accuracy.

The extracted text has errors — why?

OCR accuracy depends heavily on image quality. Blurry, low-contrast, skewed, or very small text reduces accuracy. For best results, use clear, high-resolution images with good lighting and horizontal text.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes — 10 MB per image. For very large images, consider compressing them first using our Image Compressor tool.

Are my images stored on your servers?

No. Images are processed in memory and discarded immediately after the text is returned. Nothing is saved to disk.

Can it extract text from handwriting?

Tesseract is designed for printed text. Handwritten text may be partially recognized but accuracy is generally lower than for printed characters.

What if my image contains both text and graphics?

OCR only extracts text characters — graphics, logos, and illustrations are ignored. The extracted text reflects only the readable characters in the image.
